1887 United States of America Indian Head One Cent Coin

Here is an 1887 Indian Head Penny that is in pretty poor condition (I found this embedded in a dirt road along some farmland in Eudora, Kansas, so I can only assume hundreds of tractors and trucks have driven over it in the last century).

These were made of 95% copper and 5% zinc (this is opposed to the current United States penny, which is composed of just 2.5% copper and 97.5% zinc), and despite being known as "Indian Head"  pennies, the face on the coin is actually of Liberty wearing a Native American headdress.  These pennies were minted from 1859-1909.

It's difficult to see in the picture, but along the edge of this coin are the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA 1887".  The center of the coin features the "Indian head" wearing a feathered headdress.

On the flip side of the coin, appears the word "ONE CENT" surrounded by an oak and olive wreath tied at the bottom with a ribbon, with an image of the Federal shield at the very top.

The value of this coin may be found at here.
