A. Spiehler Perfumer Rochester N.Y. Bottle [Adolph Spiehler, Inc.]

1902 Adolph Spiehler perfume advertisement.

A caricature of A. M. Spiehler.

Established in 1876 in Rochester, New York [1], the perfume company was named after its creator, Adolph M. Spiehler, a German immigrant.

Though I've only been able to find records of specific perfumes from this company dating back to 1898 [2], the Adolph Spiehler Perfumer company produced perfumes for the small city of Rochester for at least two decades prior to that year.

By 1922, the company had closed.

BOTTLE IDENTIFICATION:

Here is a large Adolph Spiehler Perfumer bottle that I found.

The finish looks like what is called an "Extract Lip".

The front of the main body has a large embossed circle, and within is the text:

A. SPIEHLER / PERFUMER / ROCHESTER N.Y.

The base of the bottle has no embossments, and is dipped in.

Overall, one of my favorite finds.

  2. I have a bottle I've for at least 25 years. Looks like the photo you're showing. When younger used it as a taper candle holder.
