Here's a Vermont Maid Syrup bottle. (Figure 1) The corn syrup company, Penick & Ford, Ltd., began producing this maple syrup product in 1928.
In 1965, they were acquired by R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company.
The body has a front and back panel where it once had a paper label and is in the shape of an oval.
The shoulder slopes directly into the neck, where it has a little handle on each side (which looks to be part of the bottle mold).
This bottle has an external continuous threaded finish.
Embossments on the base: (Figure 2)
PENICK & FORD, LTD. / INC. / M "H over A" logo 63.
The base has an oval mold seam in the center; the two side vertical seams on the body run from finish to this oval mold seam on the base, possibly indicating a post-bottom mold.
Despite the possible post-bottom mold, it appears that this was manufactured in 1963 at the Montgomery, Alabama by the Hazel-Atlas Glass Company.
